Elnaz Daraei (MD) was born on 28th May 1990 in Tehran, Iran. She studied Medicine at the Guilan University of Medical Sciences in Iran. She has an amount of general knowledge and experience in different units in several hospitals and clinics. Among these experiences, she developed an interest in internal medicine, especially endocrinology. Besides, she has experience participating in two clinical trials one in the field of ENT resulted in her master’s thesis and another one in Lung disease resulted in publication. Finally, she received her Medical degree in 2018.
After that, she started to build her new life in the Netherlands, she obtained C1 level Dutch language in two years and applied for a BIG-register number in the Dutch healthcare system. Because of a strong interest in research, she decided to combine her clinical interests and research and follow an academic carrier.
On 1 November 2022, she started her Ph.D. at the department of Nutritional and Movement Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Patrick Schrauwen and Dr. Esther Phielix. During her Ph.D., will investigate the effect of lowering branched-chain amino acids on insulin sensitivity and glucose homeostasis in people with type 2 diabetes.
