Lucas Lindeboom was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on June 10th 1984. He started his studies Biomedical Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in 2006 and received his Bachelor’s Degree in 2009, after which he enrolled in the Master in Medical Engineering. During his graduation project, under supervision of Dr. Vera Schrauwen-Hinderling and Dr. Eline Kooi at the department of Radiology of the Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC+), he studied the use of long echo times in 1H-MR Spectroscopy. In 2011 he finished his Master and was awarded the honor Cum Laude.

In September 2011, Lucas was appointed as a PhD student in a collaboration between the departments of Human Biology and Radiology at the MUMC+. Under the supervision of Dr. Vera Schrauwen-Hinderling, Prof. dr. Patrick Schrauwen, Prof. dr. MKC Hesselink and Prof. dr. Joachim Wildberger, Lucas worked on the implementation of advanced MR spectroscopy in ongoing metabolic research in the field of type 2 diabetes mellitus. His work on the edge of MR technology and metabolic diseases led to a publication in the prestigious Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI) in 2014.

Lucas was assistant professor in the departments of Nutrition/Movement Sciences and Radiology at the MUMC+. In 2016, Lucas visited Dr. Robin de Graaf at the Magnetic Resonance Research Center at Yale University (New Haven, United States) for a 3-month period, to further expand his knowledge of sophisticated MRS editing sequences. In 2018, Lucas got awarded with two prestigious personal grants (Veni and DFN Junior Fellowship) and Lucas was nominated for the title Science Talent of The Netherlands/Flanders 2018.
