Eva was born in Mainz, Germany, in 1989. In 2008, she moved to the Netherlands to study Food Technology in Wageningen. During her bachelor studies she became more interested in nutrition and research and decided to do a minor in Nutrition and Health at Wageningen University. After completing her bachelor studies, she started her master’s in Nutrition and Health in 2012, finally focusing completely on nutritional research. Eva’s master’s thesis was about the physiological side effects of the ketogenic diet in children with refractory epilepsy at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. She did her final internship at the German Institute of Human Nutrition in Potsdam, where she studied the influence of the circadian clock on energy metabolism. In September 2014, Eva received her master’s degree within the specialization Nutritional Physiology and Health Status. Afterwards she worked at Wageningen University as a research assistant in the division of Human Nutrition/Sensory Sciences and Eating Behavior. In September 2015, she started her PhD at Maastricht University in the department of Human Biology/Human Movement Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Patrick Schrauwen and Prof. Ronald Mensink. During her PhD, Eva investigated the influence of dietary interventions on metabolic flexibility.
