Charlotte Bakker

Charlotte Bakker studied Medicine at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. She followed parts of her study in Berlin, Germany and Kolkata, India. After obtaining a medical degree in 2010 she worked at a pediatric department and at an intensive care unit. Concurrently with the latter job she cooperated in research concerning the course of mitochondrial oxygen pressure as a consequence of hemodilution. Due to participating in this project, research became her major interest. Subsequently she started her PhD at the department Human Biology. Under supervision of Patrick Schrauwen and Wouter van Marken Lichtenbelt she investigated the effect of cold exposure on glucose and lipid metabolism. A wide range of techniques are involved in this human subjects research.
