The dutch heart foundation has decided to fund our research project ‘energise’ with a total sum of 5 mE. The aim of the project is to investigate if boosting energy expenditure can help to prevent the development of insulin resistance and cardiovascular diseases. The project is a collaboration between the universities of Amsterdam (AMC), Wageningen, Leiden and Maastricht and is lead by Prof. Patrick Schrauwen and Prof. Frits Rosendaal (LUMC). In maastricht, we will specifically focus on skeletal muscle mitochondrial function, lipid droplet dynamics and human brown adipose tissue. Please click here for more information.
